The New York State Bar Association wants New York state to take the lead in providing legal counsel to low-income people in immigration court.
This summer, the group wrote a resolution urging Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to enact system to provide lawyers to immigrants who could otherwise not afford one. Still, some in the legal community have reservations.
