11.17.2022
The Empire Justice Center is honoring immediate past NYSBA President T. Andrew Brown tonight with its 2022 Leadership Award. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Cornerstone at the Plaza restaurant in Albany. It’s an annual tradition at the Empire Justice Center to recognize leadership in the legal community in providing access to justice for all New Yorkers.
“I’m honored to be the recipient of an award for my work to advance access to justice,” he said.
“There’s no greater service for an attorney than that to advance justice for all. Until we truly achieve justice for all, there will be work to do. I proudly accept this award in the name of all those who have worked tirelessly to advance access to justice throughout our state, and nation. And I thank all those who have supported me over the years to do my part to advance the cause.”
Brown has been a champion for access to justice his entire legal career. He is a founder of Brown Hutchinson and served in many leading public service positions for the city of Rochester and Monroe counties.
He is the former general counsel of the National Bar Association and the past president of the Monroe County Bar Association and the Rochester Black Bar Association.
Fellow honorees at the Empire Justice Center event include Laura Gonzalez-Murphy for her work on the rights of immigrants. The event also posthumously honors Don Friedman for his work as the inaugural managing attorney and founder of Empire Justice Center’s Long Island office at the Touro Law School.
