2024 Environmental & Energy Law Section Oil Spill Symposium and Legislative Forum
May 7th and 8th at NYSBA Headquarters, 1 Elk Street, Albany, New York
The NYSBA EELS Petroleum Spills Committee and Legislation Committee are excited to announce that for the first time we are bringing together the Annual Oil Spill Symposium and Annual Legislative Forum into a single two-day program.
Spring Program – with a bonus Social and Networking Event!
This Spring Program is open to the public and designed to bring together environmental leaders, Legislators, attorneys, advocates, government officials and employees on key legal developments in the environmental and energy law fields. Limited seating is available for the Symposium and Forum, so please register as soon as registration is available. Hybrid options will be available.
Oil Spill Symposium, May 7, 2024 (2 p.m.- 5 p.m.)
Our Oil Spill Symposium is an afternoon of lively interactive round table discussions that attracts environmental consultants, engineers, attorneys, and other environmental professionals for the last 14 years. The Symposium will include our annual Oil Spill Fund Update from the State Comptroller's Office, update from the Attorney General Oil Spill Unit, the annual Oil Spill Act Case Law Update, and related presentations. It is always a great place to learn about current issues related to petroleum spills and socialize with others who practice in this field in our state.
Social and Networking Event, May 7, 2024 (5 p.m. – 8 p.m.)
The Petroleum Spills Committee and Legislation Committee will be hosting a Social Event at The Yard Hatchet House and Bar – a short walk down the hill from NYSBA Headquarters. Unleash your inner lumberjack and join us for a night of adrenaline-pumping, stress-reducing fun with axe throwing, yard games, bar snacks, and a cash bar. Proceeds will benefit our Diversity & Inclusion Fellowship. And don't miss our signature mocktail: the Slippery EEL.
Annual Legislative Forum and Luncheon, May 8, 2024 (10 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.)
"Encouraging Environmental Sustainability and Managing Climate Risk: The Increasing Role of Markets in Meeting the Climate Change Challenge."
Our Annual Legislative Forum focuses on the intersection of national – state – environmental and energy law issues and initiatives that are being addressed in our communities. The discussion brings together folks taking leadership roles to identify and discuss where key issues are converging now and will be followed by a Keynote address.
The Legislative Forum and Luncheon is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
