The associate executive director of the New York State Bar Association, Kathy Suchocki, began a new role as the president-elect of the Association of Continuing Legal Education this week.

The legal education association’s mission is to serve professionals in the field through leadership, community, education and development. It boasts members in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and parts of Africa.

In addition to her NYSBA duties, Suchocki will serve one year as president-elect of the legal education association before ascending to the presidency.

“As president-elect of ACLEA, I will assist with growing membership, fostering collegiality in the industry and increasing networking opportunities in our field,” Suchocki said.

Suchocki has been with NYSBA since 2005.  As associate executive director and senior director of legal education and law practice management at NYSBA, she leads a team of professionals who put on hundreds of educational programs each year.

This year, ACLEA honored NYSBA with an Outstanding Achievement award in the marketing category for its campaign supporting the Presidential Summit at its 2024 Annual Meeting. The program was entitled “AI and the Legal Landscape: Navigating the Ethical, Regulatory and Practical Challenges.”

“Embracing new technology is essential. AI will drastically change the legal profession and continuing legal education,” Suchocki said. “We continue to stay on top of changes and  provide the information lawyers need to know now.”
