Tyler Rosen, Counsel in the Political Law Department of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, will discuss the political law issues that arise throughout the life cycle of government contracting. These include lobbying and conflict-of interest rules, contingent fee prohibitions, pay-to-play restrictions, and procurement law requirements. The presentation will also include a discussion of recent developments in New York lobbying rules and campaign finance law.

Data Privacy: How to Advise My Clients on Current and Emerging Regulatory Environment

The regulatory environment is becoming increasingly more stringent concerning managing personal information. Regulators around the world are requiring corporations (for Profit and Non-Profit) to implement or enhance their data handling practices. Through three hypotheticals, the panel will discuss the impact of CCPA, GDPR and the recent Schrems decision and how to advise your clients on complying with existing and emerging privacy statutes and regulations.

Proposed Amendments to the Investment Adviser Advertising Rule: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly  

Robert Plaze will discuss the advertising rule under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and pending SEC proposals to amend the rule (which among other things would codify previous staff guidance and no-action letters). A key question is whether investment advisers will be better off under the existing rule or the proposed amendments to the rule.

The Pandemic Anti-Monopoly Act and Proposed SEC Regulations on Disclosures for Acquisitions and Dispositions

James Rieger, Esq. of Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP will offer a presentation on the ambitious Pandemic Anti-Monopoly Act with an emphasis on its effects on mergers and acquisitions. A member of CohnReznick will offer a presentation on the SEC’s proposed changes to disclosure requirements affecting acquisitions and dispositions.
