Strategic Growth and Succession Planning for Litigators: How to Value, Purchase and Sell a Law Practice

Moderator Michael Rakower, Esq. of Rakower Law PLLC and panelists Jeremy Poock, Esq. of Senior Attorney Match, Julia Gavrilov, Esq. of Moritt Hock & Hamroff LLP, among other panelists, will explore the varied issues associated with acquiring or selling a commercial litigation practice, including determining value, ensuring compliance with ethical rules, the importance of the right cultural fit, addressing any conflicts, advancing diversity and inclusion goals, and more. Attendees will gain an understanding of the New York Rules of Professional Conduct applicable to growth and succession planning, including the rules on Sale of a Law Practice, Competence, Communication, Fee Splitting, Confidentiality, Conflicts of Interest, Marketing/Advertising and others. Attendees also will learn how to manage their litigation practices to accomplish their strategic development goals—whether those are growth or succession related. Attendees will hear a discussion of the current state of diversity and inclusion in law firms and learn how growth by acquisition can advance firm diversity and inclusion aims.
