The Committee on Legislation has three principal functions:
- Monitor activity in the legislative and regulatory bodies of the Federal Government, New York State Government and its local governments, relating to entertainment, arts and sports as well as those of interest and concern to the legal profession.
- Advise, assist and counsel the EASL Section’s Executive Committee and the Section’s substantive law committees in the preparation and submission of recommendations and reports on proposed or pending legislative or regulatory matters, in accordance with NYSBA’s Bylaws and guidelines.
- Coordinate the exchange of legislative and regulatory information as well as EASL Section advocacy with the NYS Bar Association’s Department of Government Relations and the NYS Bar Association Standing Committee on Legislative Policy and Federal Legislation.
