Western District Of New York Practitioner Forum With Chief Judge Geoffrey Crawford Of The District Of Vermont

Since 2017, the U.S. District Courts for the Western District of New York and District of Vermont have been partners in the WDNY Judge Sharing Program, a national pilot program designed to relieve congestion of district court dockets. Under this program, judges in the District of Vermont are randomly assigned new civil cases from the WDNY civil assignment wheel. These judges are responsible for cases from filing to disposition, trial, appeal or remand. While most of the proceedings will be conducted by video conferencing, the program envisions hearings and trials occurring in the Western District.
