The New York State Bar Association is launching a new effort designed to support and protect local news outlets as the industry continues to shrink.
The Association announced Monday that it is creating a task force to study the problem and provide a legal perspective on the challenges facing American journalism.
According to the Association, the number of local news organizations in New York has fallen by 34 percent since 2004.
