Panel 1 – ESG in M&A and Financing: Why Corporate/Commercial Lawyers Should Take Notice

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors are becoming key drivers of business decisions and key business risks. Being able to identify and help clients navigate these risks will shape the future legal practice as the regulatory landscape quickly shifts to incorporate ESG factors into a wide range of legislation. Panel 2 – A Roundup of 2021 Global Data Privacy Developments and A Look at What’s Coming in 2022

The panel will discuss global data privacy developments and trends that emerged during 2021, including developments in Canada, California and Europe, and the new Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) in China, which went into effect on November 2, 2021. It will also look forward to developments in 2022, and how these changes impact technology companies, retailers, government institutions and are now being taken into account in due diligence for financing and M&A transactions.
