Embracing GENgagement to WIN the DEI Challenge
Law firms, corporations, and other legal institutions continue to face challenges achieving overall diversity, equity, and inclusion, despite the focus placed on such initiatives in recent years and especially after the murder of George Floyd in May 2020. Many have asked how the legal profession can accelerate progress and finally achieve DEI at and outside of work. This program opines that one missing piece in most workplace DEI programs is an emphasis on understanding and integrally incorporating different generational worldviews, attitudes and positive traits in communications and relationships. In this interactive presentation that includes break-out sessions for attendees, Phyllis Weiss Haserot, President of Practice Development Counsel, moderates a panel discussion of professionals who will address:
- Why generational/age diversity, inclusion and belonging is one missing piece to improving DEI at work.
- The intersectionality of generational and other diversity factors and the complexities of dealing with biases.
- Tips for the increasingly prevalent situations when older workers report to younger ones.
