Ethics 2019: Legal Ethics in the Real World
Since the new Rules of Professional Conduct replaced the former Code of Professional Responsibility in 2009, the State Bar’s Committee on Professional Ethics has issued over 320 formal opinions. Many of these address new ways of promoting and providing legal services, and the ethical problems arising from those innovations.
This program will examine recent opinions and address changes in forms of practice, business development, fees and other kinds of compensation, and lawyer advertising, as well as questions about competence, confidentiality and conflicts of interest, and ethics issues that arise in litigation.
