Innovations in Limited Scope Family Law: The Future of Remote Legal Services
80% of New York Family Court litigants are not represented by an attorney. Although Family Court helps litigants address deeply personal familial issues, the right to assigned counsel in Family Court is quite limited. Pro bono programs are a prime avenue for providing pro se Family Court litigants with critical legal guidance. Speakers will share Family Legal Connection’s limited scope representation model, collaborative technology, and current and potential uses. They also share their insights on developing the project and showcase key parts of the digital tool, and share findings from Pro Bono Net’s national survey on remote legal support and technology two years after the pandemic.
