Possibilities and Pitfalls for Minority Unions
This program will present viewpoints from union and management-side attorneys on the recent emergence and impact of minority unions at large, well-known companies. The speakers will consider the legal implications of non-traditional employee representation outside the collective bargaining context, as well as exploring the bounds of protected activity when carried out by a union with minority status; and permissible employer restrictions on workers seeking to organize. They will also address the role minority unions could play in advancing, or obstructing, broader social, economic, and environmental justice goals.
