Social Media, Hate Speech, Privacy & The First Amendment

Social media offers individuals unparalleled opportunities to communicate. Unfortunately, those opportunities also allow individuals, sometimes communicating anonymously, to threaten, stalk, and libel others. This program will consider the First Amendment implications of social media use and the means by which individuals who have been harmed by such use can seek redress either through civil actions or through criminal prosecution.
