What inspired you to go to law school?

I decided to attend law school because I want to help solve complex issues that our society faces. As someone deeply passionate about understanding the intricacies of these challenges, I believe that acquiring the skills taught in law school will equip me to address them effectively. Moreover, I aspire not just to solve these problems myself but also to empower others in their quest for solutions. This drive to make a meaningful difference is the primary motivation behind my choice to pursue a legal education.

What area of the law interests you and why?

After completing all the 1L courses, I find energy and corporate law interesting. We need to decrease the carbon footprint on our planet. Climate change has disrupted our lives, and there is no doubt that we need to take action to decrease the carbon output. Current policies and legislative tax incentives are in place to encourage companies to focus on this shift. These policies can have a profound impact on reducing the green premium associated with green energy. I find the idea of creating a carbon-neutral world fascinating.

What extracurriculars are you involved in and how have they impacted your experience?

I served as the chair of the International Law Society at Albany Law School. It was enlightening to understand the significance of international cooperation in tackling climate change. Professors Harrington and Packwood, international law scholars at ALS, imparted knowledge on how companies and nations collaborate to mitigate the effects of climate change.

What do you hope to achieve after you graduate?

After I graduate, I aim to pass the bar examination. Subsequently, I would welcome the opportunity to work in-house at a renewable energy company. My goal is to utilize my legal expertise to assist the company in navigating challenges, be it in regulatory affairs or other potential legal obstacles. I am committed to channeling my education and skills towards making a positive impact in the renewable energy sector.

What advice would you give to your fellow law students?

Don’t be afraid of the cold call. You often learn more effectively from your mistakes. Remember, no one genuinely minds if you answer incorrectly.

Why should other law students join NYSBA?

NYSBA has been instrumental in keeping me updated on new regulations. The posts from attorneys on the forum offer invaluable insights that I might not have found elsewhere. Additionally, being a NYSBA member provides various discounts and benefits.
