Universal Jurisdiction and Human Rights_675

On July 14, 2022, former Iranian official Hamid Nouri was found guilty of war crimes and mass murder by the Stockholm District Court in Sweden for his role in the 1988 extrajudicial executions of prisoners in Iran.  The defendant appealed the case, and the results are pending after the hearings earlier this fall.

This webcast, co-sponsored by the Iranian-American Bar Association, is a presentation by two Swedish prosecutors with knowledge of this case. They will discuss the Swedish and international law mechanisms used in the Nouri trial, and the implications of the case.

Hamid Nouri is an Iranian official detained in Sweden and found guilty with crimes against international law (war crimes), and crimes concerning murder, relating to his role in the extrajudicial executions of thousands of prisons who opposed the Iranian regime in 1988.
