Adaptive Governance For Climate Change And Public Health

Adaptive Governance_social4

This panel session will address the current state and future prospects for adaptive environmental governance and adaptive public health governance, in the context of climate change and the global pandemic of Covid-19. Adaptive governance includes the study of hazards and vulnerabilities, preparedness planning on various scales, and law and policy to enhance the adaptability and resilience of society. The emphasis on adaptive management and governance in the area of climate change is growing as scientists realize that factors triggering serious climate alterations are already in operation and are irreversible. The response to the pandemic has revealed many vulnerabilities in health care, economic, and political structures that call for better adaptation measures in the future. The panelists will discuss what legal and political conditions in the coming years will be necessary to engage in successful adaptive governance in environmental law and policy and in public health law and policy?
