Criminal Investigations And Social Media, Geolocation, And The Capitol Riots
This panel, comprised of former prosecutors and criminal defense attorneys, will address how social media is increasingly an issue in criminal investigations and how content posted on social media and geolocation data can be used by prosecutors to bring indictments against defendants. In particular, there will be a discussion of how the government brought cases against individuals involved with the insurrection at the Capitol. The panelists will also discuss other well-known matters where social media information has been used to support a criminal prosecution, including the Occupy Wall Street case.
