In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the court system in New York has had to reimagine how the courts could continue to serve the public. There was an immediate transition to virtual proceedings in a variety of contexts. Now that we are thankfully transitioning out of the health emergency, we take this opportunity to discuss what worked and what the pitfalls were. In addition, we will discuss whether the future of court proceedings has been permanently transformed with the advent of virtual court proceedings.
