Please join the General Counsel Committee of the Women in Law Section for a fireside chat with Emily Cain, Executive Director of EMILY'S List, and Janai Nelson, Associate Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., as they provide insights into recent challenges and successes in the fight to overcome election and voting rights challenges, especially as these issues impact women and minority candidates. The discussion will focus on some of the issues faced and strategies utilized in cases like Shelby County v. Holder, Crawford v. Marion County Election Board, and Husted v. A. Phillip Randolph Institute, as well ascertain grass-roots efforts, including how these efforts may be re-positioned to address challenges of the new election laws in Georgia (S.B. 202) and other changes in the wake of the 2020 elections.
