Women In Law Section’s Virtual Book Club Meeting: Both Are True
Please join the Women in Law Section on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Eastern Time for a virtual book club meeting featuring Reyna Gentin’s novel Both Are True. We featured Ms. Gentin’s novel Unreasonable Doubts at our first-ever virtual book club meeting in June 2020 and are thrilled to welcome her back to discuss her newest novel. Both Are True centers around Judge Jackie Martin, a woman whose intelligence and ambition have earned her a coveted position as a judge on the Manhattan Family Court-and left her lonely at age 39. When she meets Lou Greenberg, Jackie thinks she's finally found someone who will accept her exactly as she is. But when Lou's own issues, including an unresolved yearning for his ex-wife, make him bolt without explanation, Jackie must finally put herself under the same microscope as the people she judges. The book is available on Kindle and in paperback via this link on Amazon.
Reyna Marder Gentin grew up in Great Neck, New York. She attended college and law school at Yale. For many years, she practiced as an appellate attorney with a public defender's office before turning to writing full time. Reyna has studied at the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College, and her work has been published widely online and in print. Her debut novel, Unreasonable Doubts, was named a finalist for the Women's Fiction Writers Association Star Award in 2019. Her first middle grade novel, My Name is Layla, came out in January, 2021, and School Library Journal noted that "Layla's struggles at school and home are authentically depicted, and readers who face their own challenges will relate." Layla won the 2021 gold medal in the Moonbeam Children's Awards in pre-teen fiction. Reyna's latest novel, Both Are True, was published in October, 2021. Nicola Krauss, co-author of The Nanny Diaries, called Both Are True a "moving novel that examines what it means to start over–with surprising consequences."
