Bias Audits and AI in Employment Law: What You Need to Know About AI in the Hiring Process in NYC
Due to growing concerns that the use of artificial intelligence contributes to bias in the hiring process, New York City enacted Local Law 144, a first of its kind law that prohibits the use of an automated employment decision (AED) tool in hiring and promotion unless the tool is audited for bias on an annual basis. This CLE explores the basics of the law, what qualifies as an AED tool, the process and evaluation of a bias audit, and how employers can remain compliant with these new requirements.
